1902年中英商约与近代中国的对外开放

1902年中英商约是中国近代众多不平等条约中的一个,它扩大了英国在华投资和贸易。1902年中英商约造成了程度更深、范围更广的被迫开放,甚至是实质性的、全境的对外开放。在一定程度上,1902年中英商约继承了此前的对外开放思想,把某些对外开放思想付诸实践,该条约成为中国关税自主和收回治外法权的依据,对近代中国的对外开放产生重要影响。

The 1902 Mackay Treaty and the Opening-up of Modern China

One of the many treaties of inequality in modern China, the 1902 Sino-British Commercial Treaty (also known as Mackay Treaty) expanded the British investment and trade in China. This treaty resulted in China's involuntary opening to the outside world to a greater extent, or even thorough and substantial opening-up. In some sense, the Treaty carried on the preceding ideologies of opening-up and put some of them into practice, thus became the basis of China's tariff autonomy and resumption of its extraterritorial competence of states, and exerted significant influence on the opening-up of modern China.
