英汉方位隐喻中态度的跨文化对比

许多抽象概念的认知需借助于空间概念中的方位概念。这些抽象概念因此获得了“高”或“下”的方位。英汉文化对方位概念“高”和“下”有相同的态度,即“高”的事物是积极的,“低”的事物是消极的。因文化不同,英汉文化中被认为“高”或“低”的事物的对象又不尽相同。这种差异源于认知方式和价值观的不同。

Analysis of the attitudes in orientational metaphors of English and Chinese

Understanding some abstract concepts requires the orientation concept derived from spatial concept.As a result,these abstract concepts can exploit the notions of "up" and "down",or "high" and "low".Both English and Chinese cultures have the same attitudes to "up" and "down",regarding the "up" things as good or positive and the "down" things as bad or negative.But in different cultures the things that are regarded as "up" or "down" are not the same.The reasons lie in the different cognitive patterns and different values of the cultures.
