成语形式简洁，意义精辟，是语言中的精华部分。英语成语和汉语成语有着异曲同工之妙：一般来说，结构都是定型的，不可随意改动；语义是完整的，一般不是它的各个组成部分的字面意义的简单相加；在组织结构上都有并列结构、动宾结构和偏正结构；在语法功能上都可以分成名词性成语、动词性成语、形容词性成语和副词性成语；修辞上多采用比喻、夸张、对比等手法。

The form of idiom is succinct and the meaning is penetrating,which is a quintessence part in the language.English idiom and Chinese idiom express the same idea in different words:Generally speaking,its structure is fixed and it can't be changed at will;Semanteme is intact,which is not generally the simple summation of the literal meaning of its each component;There are juxtapositional structure,verb-object structure and adjective-noun structure in the structure.It can be divided into a noun idiom,a verb idiom,an adjective idiom and an adverbial idiom functionally in the grammar.it uses metaphor,exaggerator and comparison in the rhetoric chiefly.
