Abstract:A rheological model to represent the viscoelastic behavior of asphalt mixtures, that is, a model with "4 units and 5 parameters", is efficiently created on the basis of the deformation characteristics of asphalt mixtures got from single axle creep test. The model parameters of materials are also determined. A new method to calculate the rut depth of asphalt pavements is also created by using the viscoelastic layered systems computer program "EV", in which the above model is selected. In the method, the summation of the loading time of each vehicle is considered as the loading time on the pavement. The calculated results are well coincided with that obtained from the tracing rut test, therefore, the reliability of this method is verified.
