The Transcendent Spirit Embodied in the Western Modern Dance

The western modern dance is the highly developed product of western capitalism＇ s social economy, technology and culture originated between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. In this paper, the transcendent spirit with unremitted innovation and couraged exploration through the analysis of the historical and cultural background of western modern dance as well as the understanding by several western modern dance＇ s pioneers, which is highly enlightened and valuable to the development of our contemporary dance.
