| Abstract: | The Interval method is given for solving the constrained nonlinear programming problem in the optimum design of structures. The monotonicity type extension is used to construct the sequence of upper bounds of the corresponding function for finding its maximum and the domain is bisected to locate the solution to the problem. The present method is quite simple and numerical results show that it is a promising method. |
