| Abstract: | Shangdu was one of the important centres for studying science and technology in the Yuan dynasty.Its roles to development of science and technology are dealt with in the following five sections in this paper: (1) There were a Huihui (Arabic)Observatory and astronomical institution at Shangdu. (2) A lot of Arabian books were collected at Shangdu and served the scholars who studied Arabic astronomy or other scientific subjects. (3) There located some medical institutions and hospitals. (4) The constructions in Shangdu reflected the Mongolian, Chinese, Arabian archetctural techniques. (5) Shangdu was an important active centre for all kinds of scholars. |
