Abstract:The surface energy of liquid solid interface is introduced into the rivulet model of isothermal laminar liquid film flow. The critical characteristics of isothermal laminar liquid film before break up on vertical and horizontal surfaces are investigated. Expressions for the critical film thickness and flow rate are obtained. The effect of the surface roughness on the break up of liquid film is discussed.
