摘    要:本文在性状分析和性状接引方法的基础上提出剑齿象属(Stegodon)的两条形成支系,做出接引分支系统图和系统树.进一步阐明了剑齿象起源于淮河过渡区及其后的时空发展.

Abstract:The new species of stegodon is now considered by authors to be a transitional form between gomphotherid mastodonts, Rulengchia and stegodontoid elephants,or an ancestral form of the latter. So both Stegolophodon and Rulengchia may be regarded as the ancestors of Stegodon by a relaying-cladogram with a method of characteristic analysis. Huaihe River transitional province may be the cradle of genus Stegodon (even genus Stegolophodon).
