深层结构理论在英文翻译中的应用

本文通过对英译句子中一些典型错误的分析，来探讨有关语法结构的问题。并举例证明传统语法和传统的翻译技法远远不能对此做出满意的结论。文中所述的乔姆斯基创立的转换生成语法，特别是深层结构和表层结构的区别，同样也适用于翻译领域，对其理论的理解将会给翻译工作者进行有效、正确的翻译带来良好判断的感觉。

The Application of Deep Structure Theory to the Translation of English into Chinese

This paper discusses the problems relating to grammatical structures by analyzing some typical errors found in translation from English into Chinese. It is demonstrated that traditional grammar as well as traditional translation techniques, significant as they are, are far from adequate for a satisfactory solution to these problems. That transformational-generative grammar as expounded by Noam Chomsky, especially the distinction between deep and surface structures, promises to be applicable to the field of translation as well. An understanding of this theory would give the translator a better sense of judgment in his or her efforts to render English into appropriate Chinese.
