Locomotor behavior in relation to octopamine levels in the antLasius niger

Abstract:Summary The heads and bodies of hyperactive and hypoactive ants, selected on the basis of motor activity, were tested for their octopamine content. The level was found to be significantly higher in hyperactive animals. A possible involvement of octopamine in locomotor behavior is discussed.
