Abstract:An instrument is developed to measure the dynamic and static fabric drapability by the technology of image analysis. A set of stepper motor speed - regulation system, which is based on the control of single - chip microprocessor and microcomputer, is developed to form the dynamic test environment in order to implement the measurement of dynamic drapability. An algorithm is presented to convert the original draped images which are captured by a digital camera into binary images. The test results show that the algorithm is adapted for all kinds of fabrics. The whole measurement process is controlled by a friendly graphic interface developed by VC + + .
