1919年爆发的五四运动在中国历史上是一个具有划时代意义的伟大事件。五四运动是多方面力量角逐的结果,正是在多种力量的较量与合作中,五四运动才得以爆发、深化,并迅速扩展到全国多个地区。基于《申报》等报纸的报道,五四运动背后的社会团体包括两大类:政治团体和民间团体。政治团体包括:官方政治团体、在野政治团体(以孙中山为首的资产阶级民主派、以梁启超为首的研究系);民间团体包括:学界、商工界、报界和留学生团体。这些团体间力量的角逐,揭示了五四运动爆发和发展具有历史必然性。

Competition for Power: the Social Group Behind the May 4th Movement

The May 4 th movement, which broke out in 1919, was a great event of epoch-making significance in Chinese history.The May 4 th movement was the result of the competition of various forces. Based on reports in shenbao and other newspapers, this study believes that the social groups behind the May 4 th movement fall into two categories: political groups and civil groups. Political groups include: official political groups, political groups in opposition(led by Sun yat-sen’s bourgeois Democrats, led by liang qichao’s research department);Civil society groups include academic circles, business and industry circles, newspapers and student groups.The competition between these groups reveals the historical inevitability of the outbreak and development of the May 4 th movement.
