An Improved Feature Extraction Method of Vector Curves

Vector curve compression has the vital significance in geographic simulation,map the database construction and geographic information study.Through analyzing the GIS traditional vector data compression algorithm-Douglas-poke Douglas-Peucker data compression algorithm,it indicates the traditional compression algorithm programming complex and time consuming.This paper proposes a kind of relatively simple feature point extraction method,this algorithm through calculating the slope of the adjacent vector data,using the difference in slope as constraint conditions,through the simulation experiments in MATLAB7.0,the algorithm is more simple in the process of extracting vector curve feature point than Douglas-Peucker algorithm.as for complex curve and the feature point extracting are also very accurate.
