Comparison of Cultural Differences Between Chinese and English Terms of Address

As an indispensable part of verbal communication, the proper choice of address is restricted to many factors, such as kinship, social structure, culture orientation etc. This paper tentatively discusses the cultural differences embodied by Chinese and English systems of address as well as the categories and the pragmatic mechanism of addressing terms.
