Analysis of Incremental Rate of Return

Some special problems of the rate of return and incremental rate of return are briefly dis- cussed.Attention has been given to analysing the relation between the incremental rate of return and the net present worth of benefit. An important conclusion is drawn from the analysis of the incremen- tal rate of return,namely,the use of the incremental rate of return as a criterion of economic decision making is restricted to special conditions,e.g.uniform annual series of cash flow and the given mini- mum attractive rate of return which is used as the calculating rate of interest in analysing the net pre- sent worth of benefit,For irregular series of cash flow,the analysis of the incremental rate of return would lead to an incorrect conclusion on economic decision-making.
