Discusion of the Fanslation of "A Psalm of Life" by Huang Xinqu

"A Psalm of Life", attributed to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), one of the influential figures of "the flowering of New England", is an outstanding poem in his masterpiece Voices of the Night and is the first poem translated into Chinese. There are many translated versions including ancient Chinese poem version and mandarin version in prose. This thesis sees an analysis of Huang Xinqu's translation from the perspectives of its rhyme, rhythm, cultural factor and sentence structure.
