| Abstract: | A novel binucleating ligand L and its dinuclear Cu(II) complex (Cu2LCl4)·2H2O were synthesized and characterized. The catalytic hydrolysis of BPNPP by 2 was studied and the initial rates method was
used to determine the rates of the reaction. Products of the reaction were identified by reverse-phase HPLC. The reactivities
of dinuclear Cu(II) complex 2 and mononuclear Cu(II) complex 1 were compared. A probable mechanism is proposed.
