Abstract:Based on the one dimensional model,the magnetic tape is approximated as an axially moving Euler Bernoulli beam under tension,while the air pressure in the bearing region due to the moving tape is governed by the Boltzmann equation,which is suitable for ultra low clearance.The calculation results of the Boltzmann equation and the first order slip modified Reynolds equation are compared, and the clearance and pressure in low speed region are analysed.Furthermore ,the characteristics of clearance and pressure due to the displacement of the head are investigated.
