Abstract: | The south Asian sisorid catfish genus Sisor is revised. Three new species are described in this study: S. chennuah from the Brahmaputra River drainage, and S. rheophilus and S. torosus from the Ganges River drainage. The body depth, snout length, eye size, shape of the nuchal plate and the numbers of pectoral spine serrations and lateral line ossicles are found to be diagnostic characters for the species. Sisor rabdophorus is redescribed and a neotype designated. |
