世界经济经过工业经济的极限增长 ,随着高新技术的发展 ,正转向知识经济形态 ,正促进各国发展高科技 ,首先是信息产业。信息业对其他产业的渗透性特强 ,且又是低能耗 ,低污染、高附加值产业 ,符合经济发展的方向。 1995年厦门市正式提出建设信息港的战略任务 ,在原有信息业基础加上几年的努力 ,现已具备一定物质条件 ,在信息产业和信息服务业方面都有长足进步。面向新世纪 ,信息业将作为经济的新增长点。厦门信息港将加速建设并将形成网络经济 ,厦门将成为智慧岛 ,成为区域性信息中心

Speeding up the Construction of Xiamen Information Port

Information Technology is powerful in diffusing into other industries with low energy consumption,low pollution and high value added that it meets the requirements of the strategic economic development.In 1995,Xiamen put forth the goal to build an information port and the past five years have witnessed the progress of IT and information service industry in Xiamen.Xiamen Information Port will speed up its construction,and its growth into a network economy will be conducive to a Xiamen as a land of intelligence and a regional information center.
