Abstract: | The conditional cell division cycle yeast mutants cdc have been used to demonstrate that intragenic recombination induced by ultraviolet or gamma rays occurs in diploids arrested in G1, a short time after irradiation and before the initiation of the S phase. This implies that pairing of homologous chromosomes does not require duplicated chromatids. |
