独立与叛逆——简·爱与林黛玉之比较

身世相近命运迥异的人物———简·爱和林黛玉 ,她们从小父母双亡 ,都住在舅父家过着寄人篱下的生活 ,相似的身世造就了她们独立与叛逆的性格 ,但这一品格并未给她们带来相同的命运结局。

Independence and Rebellion -- the Comparison between Jane Eyre and Lin Dai -yu

Jane Eyre and A Dream of Red Mansions are masterpieces in Chinese and Western literature. When having a comparison between them, I find that in these two novels , there are two characters who have the similiar life experience but different destiny. Jane Eyre and Lin Dai-yu both lost their parents when they were very young and were sent to their uncles' home, depending on their relatives for a living. Similiar life experience cultivate the same character--- independence and rebellion. However, this character doesn't bring them the same destiny. In this paper I try to find out the true reasons which influence the formation of their character and their different destiny.
