Not long ago American Gerald S.Levinson proposed a simple apparatus for determining vapor pressure without Liquid Mercury.however,it can only be used in determining the vapour pressure we improved on the apporatus for dete— rmining other substances. With this improved apparatus we may determine other liquid as well as water,the writer has determined the vapor pressure of benzene and water with the help of the improved apparatus and has got a satisfactory result. Our apparatus only consists of a beaker,a thermometer and a graduated U— tube,therefore,it is particnlarly suitable tor students of chemistry
