| Abstract: | The cold and humid mountainous highland in the south and the 'old regio'(former'red region' during the revolutionary wars before 1949)in the east of Gansu are major poverty-stricken regions in the province. Since 1985,twenty nine counties and cities in these regions have been included in a relieving and developingt programme of the state and provincial governments.A detailed estimation and an analysis of the changes in livestock production through the programme are presented in this paper. |
