SOME COMMONLY USED RHETORICAL DEVICES FOR INTENSIFICATION IN ENGLISH

The present article deals chiefly with the important function of the rhetorical devices for intensification in English, by which we can pass our emotional mood to a sentence, and emphasize the main themes, so as to be able to convey information both effectively and emotionally. The author sume up some commonly used vehicles for emphasis which may be divided into two parts according to the sentence structure and morphology. Ample illustrations are given of the special meanings imparted by each structure and of the usual practices in translation work.
