Technologies and Standards of Digital Compression for Voice Signals

With the development of science and technologies,great achievements have been made on the processing of voice signals,especially in the field of digital signal compression.Many international standards(recommendations)have been stipulated to promote the wide applications of digital techniques to telecommunications,broadcasting,television and amusement.This paper describes most of these standards (recommendations)according to their different purposes and discusses the coding methods of voice signals.
