Abstract:The polymerization of acrylamide aqueous solution induced by He-Ne laser in the presence of methyl blue(MB)-amines as the sensitizing system has been investiga-ted.The photofading rate and photofading quantum yield of MB,the polymeriza-tion rate and rate constants,the quantum yield for monomer consumption and po-lymer formation,molecular weights of polymers,and chain transfer constants have been measured.These parameters are related to the amine structures.In pho-toinduced process,the radicals generated from amine molecules not only act asinitiators for the chain polymerization,but also as chain transfer agents in the polymerization.
