严嵩研究刍议

目前，史学界仍普遍坚持严嵩为“奸臣”的传统论点，但同时对一些有关严嵩的传统史料也一直存有争议。在简要介绍前人对严嵩的相关研究成果的基础上，从有关严嵩“媚君邀宠，窃弄威柄”，“残害忠良”，“废弛边防”，“贪污受贿”这四个方面谈了一些看法，认为虽然严嵩确有不少值得非议之处，但他在历史上也做过不少有意义的事情，曾起过积极的作用，这些客观历史业绩是不应被有意淡化甚至抹杀的。

Research into Yan Song

At present the historic circle sticks to the traditional view that Yan Song was a treacherous court official, meanwhile there is argument about the historic materials of Yan Song. On the basis of the research result of Yan Song, the paper presents the authors' view about Yan Song from four aspects, that is, currying favour with the emperor and usurping power, framing the faithful and innocent, eliminating the birder defense and embezzling money and accepting bribes. It thinks that although Yan Song was a disputable person, he did many significant things in history, which should not be neglected.
