Expressionism In Death Of a Salesman
摘    要:It is agreed by many people that Death of a Salesman relies on realistic techniques. Few people notice that there is also an element of expressionism in it. In this essay we shall discuss the expressionistic technique employed in the play.Expressionism refers to a movement in Germany very early in the 20th century.In the movement a number of painters sought to avoid the representation of external reality and, instead, to project themselves and a highly personal vision of the world. The term can be applied to literature. In modern literature it can be referred to as any deliberate distortion of reality. In drama, expressionism applies to a style of playwriting and production emphasizing emotional content, the subjective reactions of characters, and symbolic or abstract representation of reality.
