Abstract:The abrasive belt surface grinding is a new technique with bright prospects. However, the precision flatness of the product is still a key problom, which has not been solved yet. In this paper, basing on a large number of experiments we analyse the possible problems which may occur in the process of the grinding, and propose the method for solving them. The experimental results obtained show that our method is very effective in improving the flatness of the abrasive belt grinding for the cylinder caps of the 190 type Diesel engine. The stock removal is 0.8mm and the surface flatness of the cylinder caps machined is from 0.011mm to 0.013mm.
