| 摘 要： | 抗战期间，西南联合大学之所以成为著名的“民主堡垒”，得益于云南独特的地理环境、开明的地方政治、西南联大自由开放的校园风气，以及组成西南联大的三校团结合作的办学风格。这几个方面的因素相互配合，相互作用，相互发酵，最终促使西南联大形成抗战时期闻名全国的“民主堡垒”。西北联大尽管师生也有民主意识，但是由于学校内部的不团结，学校逐渐被肢解，办学规模和实力不断缩小，校方领导更替频繁，学校丧失了“教育独立”的性质，未能形成如西南联大一样的“民主堡垒”和办学成就。
