| 摘 要： | 美国梦是贯穿美国文学的一个永恒主题，也是美国人的精神支柱。早期的美国梦包含锐意进取的精神，强调通过个人奋斗实现理想，然而残酷的社会现实往往使许多人的梦想破灭。著名作家德莱塞的主要作品就反映了人们从怀揣梦想到梦想破灭这一主题，深刻揭露了美国梦的实质。
