石钟慈院士采访记

An Interview with Shi Zhongci

Shi Zhongci,a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences,is aneminent computational mathematician who has many creative achievements in the field of finite element methods. This paper is a record of the author's interview with him on September 14,2000,and from it we can see his experiences as a student and his academic career and the background on which his major achievements were made.The successes of Shi Zhongci reinforce our conviction that China will become a leading country in mathematics in the 21st century.
