| Abstract: | Deciding an appropriate markup for a contractor is an important process of bidding. The difficulty in having a comprehensive answer to the bid markup decision is due to the fact that it is heuristic in nature since it is made on the basis of experience judgment, and perception. In this paper, we present a Bid Markup Estimate System(BMES) using case based reasoning(CBR) to aid a contractor to choose an appropriate markup added to the estimated cost of a project, through retrieving similar previous completed projects and adapting the retrieved project for the new project. |
