作为一种古老的历史认知方式,循环观在东西方文化与文学中是一个不容忽视的传统.无论是东方思维模式下的儒道佛文化体系,还是西方思维模式下的社会历史理论,都有将社会历史的发展看作是一个循环演化过程而不是线性进化过程的思想倾向.受这一文化传统的滋养,文学中的部分历史叙事不可避免地沾染了历史循环演变的悲观色彩,从而呈现出与历史进化论指导下的历史叙事相迥异的审美风貌.

On the Historical Circulation Concept in Culture and Literature Tradition

Cycle theory, as a kind of cognitive view of ancient history, was a great tradition not to be ignored. The development of social history is a kind of ideological inclination which goes cyclic instead of being a linear evolving process either in the Confucianism and Buddhism system of oriental thinking mode or in western mode of thinking based on social historical theory. Nourished by the cultural tradi- tion, the historical narrative of literature was inevitably stained by pessimism color of history circula- tion evolution, thereby presented the strikingly different aesthetic style with the historical narrative under the guidance of the historical evolution.
