The paper elaborates on the sex differences in verbal communication of English from the angles of topic choice and expressions, and analyzes the social and cultural factors contributing to these discrepancies. It proposes that the sex differences would dwindle away with the development of society, and that people should learn to reduce misunderstanding through thinking from the standpoint of opposite sex so as to maintain an active and effective communication.
