| Abstract: | The effect of heparin-Na and heparin-Ca on the adhesion and migration of PLA-801 human giant lung cancer cells in vitro was invested. It was demonstrated that the adhesion and migration of PLA-801 cells were inhibited by heparin-Na or heparin-Ca. Under scanning electron microscopy, cells treated by heparin-Na or heparin-Ca showed reduction of fdopodia. The reduction of filopodia may be the morphologic basis of decreased adhesion and migration of the cells. Furthermore, heparin-Na and heparin-Ca dispelcd to a great degree the promoting effect of laminin on addhesion, migration and spreading of the cells. The abilities of adhesion and migration of tumor cells, and the promoting effect of laminin on them are regarded as the important factors in tumor metastasis, so it is considered that the inhibition effects of heparin-Na and heparin-Ca on these factors are a novel function of heparin against tumor metastasis. |
