Ultra-fine grained and nanocrystalline materials are often harder, stronger and more wear-resistant than their coarse grained counterparts. Machining approach is a novel and low-cost technique to manufacture nanostructure metals and alloys in large volume. Machining which is a typical large strain processing can impose significantly large strain on chips in a sigle stage of deformation during the process of chip formation, while simultaneously is suitable to high strength metal and alloy to overcome the limits of severe plastic deformation methods.
