| Abstract: | Enlightened by the concept of " semantic transparency", the author would like to apply a parodied term "pragmatic transparency" to analyze the pragmatic sense of utterance in English and Chinese. He proposes that the application of pragmatic transparency is an important content in rhetoric, a key factor assuring the success in the communication, and a criterion for the pragmatic translation. |
