| Abstract: | It is well known that hypotaxis & parataxis and personal expression & impersonal expression play quite different roles in English and Chinese.This paper presents an analysis of the underlying cause from both linguistic and philosophical perspectives with examples taken from Xie Bingying's essay I love the sea.The author believes that the study will be helpful to the recognition of both English and Chinese as well as to the translation and language learning. |
