Abstract:Simultaneous determination of NO-8-N and NO-2-N in rainwater with linear regression of ultra-violet spectrophotometric and multiwavelength data is proposed. This method is based on the difference in molar absorptivity between two compounds at different wavelengths. The absorp-tances for 8 wavelengths within wavelength range of 200~215 nm are measured and the data are then processed with the method suggested. The linear correlation coefficients (r) of nitrite and nitrate are both found to-be greater than 0.999 and the recovery ratio is 96.5~109%. The relative standard deviation is 0.005 ppm with the coefficient of variation of 1.57%. Experimental results are found to be in good agreement with the data obtained by the ionchromatographic method.
