| Abstract: | The morphology and structure of the third eye of the lizard has beenstudied by a photoelectric micsoscope and a scanning electronic microseople.It was found that the third eye has a structure smilar to that of lateraleyes of the lizard,and it is composed of the corneal eplthelium,lens,vitreous body and retina.Its structure is simpler than that of lateral eyesand remains in the primary stage of development.Its lens is a pseudo-stratified columnar epithelium,and its retina consists of melanocyte andphotoreceptor cells,the latter of which includes two types. |
