| Abstract: | This paper presents some results of the entrance bar study of Guanhe estuary through geographical and hydrological approches.New proofs of sediment transport and deposition characters have been obtained through the interpretation of remote-sensed pictures and analysis of columnar section.Based on numerical simulations of current and wave fields,calculations of sediment transport by tidal current and wave induced longshore current have been carried out.The results obtained by geographical and hydrological studies synthesized,an explanation for the formation and evolution of the entrance bar is pressented.Furthermore,preliminary plans for harnessing the waterway to the sea are discussed. |
