A general review of the traffic flow theory

The literature concerning the traditional traffic flow theory is summarized and it is considered that the practical effects of the theory are influenced by the stern limitation of the models. The traffic flow theory is a developing subject. With the development of modern science and technology,some new methods are applied in the modern traffic flow theory,and the simulation effects of the real traffic flow by the models are emphasized. It is predicted that the new development of the traffic flow theory should be promoted by the systematic method.
