二年生杜仲实生苗在不同土壤干旱条件下的盆栽试验结果表明，杜仲对土壤水分胁迫有很强的适应能力，这种适应能力通过三种调节过程实现，即通过叶片水分饱和亏缺和Ｋ＾＋含量的反馈控制实现的气孔运动的调节，通过脯氨酸积累实现的渗透调节，以及通过活必氧浦除剂（如过氧化物酶）活性变化实现的对自由基平衡的调节。
