英语转移修饰的修辞功能及其翻译浅议

英语转移修饰是一种超常规搭配的修辞方法,它是由转移修饰语和中心词构成的,转移修饰语与中心词之间存在着不同类型的语义联系,这种联系是靠联想建立起来的。因为转移修饰具有一种字面以外的联想意义,如果运用得当,可使语言精炼,意蕴丰富。翻译转移修饰辞格时,要运用适当的翻译技巧,进行最大的等值翻译。但有时翻译时保留这种辞格会使译句不雅不达,这就需要译者透彻领悟转移形容词所传达的信息,采用意译或其它翻译手法。

Transferred epithet is a rhetorical device of supernormal collocation, which is composed of the transferred epithet and its modified word.There exist different types of semantic relationships between them.Proper use of transferred epithets can make sentences polished and colorful.When sentences with transferred epithets are translated,appropriate techniques are needed to reserve this kind of figure of speech.However,sometimes keeping the figure of speech just makes the sentence hard to understand and less refined.In that case,the translator needs to adopt other translation skills based on the deep understanding of the meaning of the transferred epithet.
