| Abstract: | A universal three-dimensional finite difference formulation for the boundary value problem of the elliptic type is developed with the control volume element method. Based on a network analysis and the graph theory, the formulation is discussed with various elements of different boundary shapes. In particular, the procedure for carrying out the element analysis is emphasized with the complete process stylized and normalized so as to facilitate general programming. The difference equations are positive definite symmetric ones with sparse coefficient matrix. A generalized program package for finite difference analysis has been compiled and some boundary value problems have been numerically solved. |
