The article illustrates the main historic styles of Western architecture entrances in the order of times and districts, analyses the technical backgrounds and historical relations of them, and indicates that not only the entrance form but the whole building form had lied on the building material and technique when the architectural function was relatively stable before the Renaissance period. After that time, architectural form often divorced from their own functions and structures, turned to the eclectic ways to synthesize all kinds of historic styles.
