Abstract:In this papcr the measurements have been made of the helium n=3 singlet and triplet P and D state lifetimcs as a function of atomic beam density using the electron photon coincidence technique. The lifetime measurcmcnts yield clear information on the influence of resonance tadiation tapping or radiation self absorption within the interaction volume, indicate that the scattering parameters are expected to be affected by the variation in the eiperimental atomic beam geometuy and density, and reveal that the pressure dependence of X and lifetimes extends to zero atomic beam density.
